The Raptors are proud to be a part of Major League Rugby, the forthcoming professional league in the United States, and are thrilled that national media broadcasters CBS Sports Net and ESPN have embraced the sport. Alongside the ESPN Plus app and UK-based Scrum.com, fans now have numerous channels through which to experience the entire 31-game inaugural season. “We are excited to have ESPN as a partner,” said MLR Commissioner Dean Howes. “ESPN is one of the most powerful brands in sports, and we couldn’t be more pleased to provide our fans access to MLR content through ESPN platforms.” These exclusive distribution agreements will provide national and international access to the American rugby phenomenon. The league also has an exclusive apparel partnership with Australia-based brand X-Blades, who will provide uniforms for all teams.

Rugby is a Global Sport.

Rugby is one of the most popular sports globally, second only to soccer, and yet the United States as a whole has not developed the sport commercially. The amount of rugby participation versus commercial activation is disproportionate. Glendale has been an example of how to make that activation a reality for more than a decade, and now MLR stands poised to do the same at the national level. The world is watching Glendale and Major League Rugby.

Alongside exceptional facilities and talent, sponsor partnerships have been integral to the Raptors’ historic success, offering businesses the opportunity to reach rugby’s robust and growing fan base. The professional team has announced exclusive partnerships with local financial services provider Westerra, the official credit union of the Raptors, as well as Hampton Inn & Suites, the team’s official hotel. Both organizations are longtime partners who have ratcheted up their support in anticipation of the forthcoming professional season. Additionally, the Raptors have partnered with Arcanum Edge Sports Performance, a Colorado-based recovery and performance supplement maker.

High-level negotiations to secure additional partners are in progress with some of the most recognizable brands on the planet. MLR Consultant for Media and Sponsorship Sales, Michael Jaquet, describes the benefit of these partnerships: “The ability to co-market with rugby and established sponsor brands drives the economic engine – partnering with sponsors and investors allows the business of rugby to thrive.”

With Infinity Park as their home, site of the first rugby-specific stadium in the country, the Raptors have access to exceptional, state-of-the-art facilities. For more than a decade Glendale’s rugby programming has attracted and recruited the top rugby talent from the U.S. and abroad, producing exceptional, championship-winning teams. Riding the successes of a long history and the professional preseason, the Raptors are poised to become the standard bearers in American professional rugby.
