About

This is #RaptorsLife.

Major League Rugby. Major League Raptors.

The Glendale Raptors Rugby Football Club was established in 2007, accompanied by the creation of Infinity Park. The first rugby-specific stadium built in the U.S., Glendale’s Infinity Park is both a milestone in the development of rugby in this country and a major investment in the future of the city and the sport. Since the team’s creation, the Raptors have become standard-bearers for U.S. rugby, creating a template both on and off the field for what a successful rugby team looks like. In the decade-plus since the club’s inception, the Raptors have hoisted multiple championship banners in Infinity Park. As one of the teams across the country entering the forthcoming professional Major League Rugby organization, the Raptors enter a new chapter of competition at the highest level.

Beginning in 2018, Major League Rugby (MLR) will become the crown jewel atop the USA Rugby domestic participation pyramid, providing a focal point for fans, an aspirational goal for young players, and opportunities for businesses to engage with the sport. By stitching together the local with the national, the national with the global, MLR will be the embodiment of rugby’s character-driven model of sport and athleticism, teamwork and diversity, participation and community – and an open invitation for the American public to join the unique and vibrant rugby world.

Glendale Raptors Rugby Culture

In addition to on-field prowess, the Raptors have developed a true rugby culture along Colorado’s Front Range. By leading youth rugby programs, and through their dedication to community service programs, Glendale Raptors Rugby embodies the character-driven spirit of the sport. The Raptors are truly leaders in the community, with players volunteering for organizations like Kids Running America, the Special Olympics, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Colfax Marathon, among others. Since the club’s founding, players and coaches have fostered a special relationship with Colorado Children’s Hospital, with multiple club members returning year after year to spend time with patients and their families. Additional community outreach involves numerous free rugby clinics annually for Denver area youth.

The Glendale Raptors Rugby Club is a robust and flourishing organization: consistently a top performer nationally, the club is now evolving, ready to prove itself at the highest level of American rugby competition. Celebrating ten years since their establishment and multiple national titles, the Glendale Raptors are building upon an already impressive history of distinction.

The Rugby Pathway

In addition to the forthcoming professional Raptors team, the city is home to the Glendale Merlins amateur and developmental teams. The Merlins’ substantial programming features developmental teams for men and women, an Under-20 team tailored to high-performance athletes without the opportunity to play rugby after high school, and the first-of-its-kind Glendale Raptors Rugby Academy. Designed for youth between the ages of 5 and 18, The Academy curriculum works not only to instill rugby’s values of inclusion, teamwork, and character, but alongside the rest of Glendale’s substantial organization, offers a developmental pathway that can lead from kindergarten all the way to the pros. It’s what we call Raptors Life.
